Was Trump Right? – Pastor Calls for George Washington’s Name Removed From Chicago Park

On Tuesday President Trump said we were setting a dangerous precedent by removing history. Trump named the first president, George Washington and said, “You have to ask yourself, where does it stop?” Now you have to ask yourself, was Trump right?

Even though Trump was mocked for making this remark, it obviously turns out he was right.

Per Daily Wire:

A local pastor is now calling on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to scrub president George Washington and Andrew Jackson’s names from parks in the city because they were slave holders.

“Bishop James Dukes sent a letter to Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago Park District on Monday asking the City of Chicago to rename Washington and Jackson Parks which commemorate former presidents George Washington and Andrew Jackson, key historical figures and known slave owners,” reports WGN TV.

“When my children and grandchildren walk through these parks and say, ‘Grandfather, wasn’t he a slave owner?,’ how do I explain that and how do I reconcile that with their views of what heroes are?” said Mr. Dukes.

“I’m not trying to eradicate history,” he said. “Let’s put history where it belongs so it can be explained and taught properly.”

Trump was right on the money when he mentioned this on Tuesday.

“I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down,” Trump said on Tuesday. “I wonder, is it George Washington next week, and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You really do have to ask yourself where does it stop.”

There has been no response from Mayor Emanuel yet. Dukes is pushing hard. He already has a meeting with a city official and is hoping to put the process in place to get the names changed.
