A student from North Carolina Central University was arrested Tuesday after admitting she helped take down a Confederate monument. The shocked protester was was at an anti-fascist rally right in front of the Durham, North Carolina county courthouse when she admitted that she was the one that tossed rope over a monument dedicated to the Confederate soldiers and took it down.

Takiyah Fatima Thompson was absolutely shocked when she was arrested and booked on charges of felony participation. Before being arrested she was on the courthouse steps demanding amnesty for the criminals who did what she called a "public service" of taking down the historic monuments.

On Tuesday a video was posted that shows Thompson climbing up a ladder and tossing rope over the neck of the monument. From their she gets help from her criminal buddies and together they pull the monument to the ground. This statue has been in Durham's Public Square to honor the Confederate Army during the Civil War since 1924.

Thompson should have seen the arrest coming. Durham Police made a statement on Tuesday that they were looking for the individuals who were seen in the videos on the internet defacing public property.

Instead of turning themselves in, Thompson and her friends held a rally in hopes of "amnesty" for their action. You know, since they weren't actually committing crimes. They were pulling down the monuments in the name of peace, tolerance and progressive values. Here is some of what Thompson said at the rally:

"To the boys who wore the grey. And if we understand history, we know that those boys who wore gray, today they wear blue and they wear sheets over there heads and they beat up black people and they beat up Latinx people, and they beat up queer people and that is the agenda.”

Despite Thompson's please, she still did over $1500 in damage to the property. She had barely finished her rant before she was getting thrown into the back of a cop car.

While the arrest was happening, Thompson's fellow protesters started chanting, "Cops and Klan go hand-in-hand."
