WATCH: People Jump Out of Electric Bus After it Fails to Climb Hill and Begins Reversing

A viral video on social media shows an electric public transportation bus in India failing to climb a hill that happens to be in a hairpin turn.

The bus is being operated by Indian state-run Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited and it was shuttling passengers from the city of Pune to the fort.

TV9 Marathi shared video footage of the vehicle using every bit of power it has in an attempt to climb the hill. However, it just did not have enough power and the bus started going back down the hill and the passengers started getting off of the bus.

Whenever the people started getting off of the bus it resulted in more weight and at that point, the bus was able to successfully climb the hill.

Check it out:

At the beginning of May, PMPML announced that it would operate its entire bus fleet of 24 electric buses along the route on weekends to bring passengers to the site.

Obviously, the failure of the electric busses to climb certain hills has raised some concerns.

“When the authorities decided to start the service, they should have been better prepared. If a bus rolls down because of overcrowding, it is a major safety concern for passengers. I will now rethink of my visit,” said Kothrud resident Dayanand Shirke.

Can you imagine being on one of those busses and it slowly starts going back down the hill in reverse? Yikes.
