Well, what do ya know? A Washington Post poll seemed to backfire as it revealed that most Mexicans want illegal immigrants deported from their country!
This doesn't surprise me at all. Despite the left's rhetoric that deporting illegal immigrants is "racist", most people do not want them in the country! That is not to be confused with the immigrants who do things the right way and migrate legally.
The Post's poll asked, “What should Mexico do with the migrants from Central America that cross through the country trying to reach the United States? Give them residency in Mexico, give them temporary residency while the United States decides if it will accept them or not, or deport them to their countries of origin?”
Their response were as follows: 7% said to let the illegals stay, 33% said to give them a temporary place, and 55% said to deport the illegal aliens.
The poll also inquired, “With which of these phrases do you agree the most? The migrants strengthen our country with their work and skills or the migrants are a burden on our country because they take jobs and receive benefits that should belong to Mexicans.”
The response to that question showed that 64% of the 1,200 pollsters believe illegals are a burden on the country.
The Post admitted, “Those findings defy the perception that Mexico — a country that has sent millions of its own migrants to the United States, sending billions of dollars in remittances — is sympathetic to the surge of Central Americans. Instead, the data suggests Mexicans have turned against the migrants transiting through their own country, expressing antipathy that would be familiar to many supporters of President Trump north of the border. “
The Post may not have noticed, but last month a new poll by the Mexican newspaper El Universal showed that since October 2018, more Mexicans supported stricter immigration enforcement to keep illegal immigrants from entering Mexico. Last October, the percentage of Mexicans in the same poll who agreed that tougher immigration was necessary was 49%; that percentage rose to 61% in June.
I know of many people personally who are legal immigrants here in the United States, and they also believe that illegal immigrants are a burden on the nation. They came here the correct way and do not see it fair for illegals to come over and get everything handed to them.
