Joe Manchin Makes a Stand Against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Her ‘Recipe For Disaster’

A video clip shared widely online shows Gosar and Ocasio-Cortez seated alongside each other and engaged in what appears to be a friendly conversation during a break in the House speakership vote. This occurred after House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy's bid for speakership fell short of the required 218 votes, leading to another round of voting. The clip was captured by C-SPAN.

The conversation between Gosar and Ocasio-Cortez during the House speakership vote was unexpected due to their previous conflict, which included a tweet from Gosar featuring a violent animated spoof video involving Ocasio-Cortez and President Biden. Ocasio-Cortez subsequently accused Gosar of being a "white supremacist," resulting in his censure and removal from committee assignments.

The unexpected cordiality of their recent interaction sparked curiosity on Twitter, with many people speculating about the topic of their conversation and marveling at the unusual dynamic between the two lawmakers.

"Wait?!?!? @AOC and Paul Gosar, the guy who made that cartoon of him killing her, are talking on the floor? Now I have seen everything," Eric Michael Garcia of The Independent wrote.

"It looks like Congressman Gosar and AOC are hatching a plan," commented journalist James Dunn.

"Does anyone who is an expert in body language or lip reading want to give their thoughts on this conversation between AOC and Paul Gosar that just happened?" asked Cabot Phillips, a senior editor at Daily Wire.

Other users also noticed that Ocasio-Cortez had been seen chatting with Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida (R) earlier in the day.

McCarthy's second and third attempts at being elected Speaker of the House were unsuccessful, leading to the House adjourning for the day until noon on Wednesday.
