The life expectancy for the average United States citizen has dropped to a 25-year low, according to data from the CDC.
Life expectancy for people born in 2021 is 76.4 years, compared to 78.8 for those born in 2019, for a drop of 2.4 years.

This reversal comes after a steady increase in expected life expectancy among Americans.
CDC blames the decrease on two things: substance and drug abuse and of course, COVID-19.
The COVID-19 pandemic, with its widespread shutdowns, made the ongoing drug addiction epidemic worse by forcing many vulnerable individuals into isolation and away from the support networks that could help them resist substance abuse.
Cancer and heart disease remain the top two causes of death in the United States.
The CDC has warned Americans that the prevalence of multiple respiratory illnesses could persist for an extended period of time.
During a telebriefing at the start of the month, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky stated that levels of flu-like illness were higher than usual for this time of year, but also noted that there were signs that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) had reached its peak in some regions.
According to the CDC, RSV typically causes mild symptoms similar to a cold, and older adults, infants, and young children are at a higher risk. However, a fever is also a symptom of RSV.

That being said, who knows what the Democrats are going to do in 2024. California Governor Gavin Newsom has repeatedly denied he will run for president. Kamala Harris has botched her VP position so badly she's not even under consideration. Who the heck knows?
