Why are sponsors ignoring a 6 time Olympic medalist? Skeet-shooting American champion Kim Rhode won a medal for sixth year in a row on Friday. Many media outlets ignored her. Other insulted her.

Sponsors Ignoring A 6-Time Olympic Medalist

NBC made some passing remarks with regards to her accomplishment. Then on top of that they suggested she is not really an athlete.

“Many would argue that a shooter doing this is far less impressive than, say, a gymnast or a swimmer,” NBC reporter Nick Zaccardi wrote. “The act of shooting requires fewer physical attributes, extending Olympic lifespans.”

They could not have been more condescending if they tried.

Many think that the reason the media bashes her is due to their hate of the 2nd Amendment. Kim Rhode proudly supports the 2nd Amendment.

Per USA Today:

“We should have the right to keep and bear arms, to protect ourselves and our family. The Second Amendment was put in there not just so we can go shoot skeet or go shoot trap. It was put in so we could defend our First Amendment, the freedom of speech, and also to defend ourselves against our own government.”

NBC made no mention of this statement at all. Not surprising, since they are coached to tell everyone that guns are bad.

Don't get it wrong, there were some media outlets that did congratulate Kim on her achievements. But it's hard not to think about how many more of these there would be if Kim was not a gun enthusiast. Compare her to the gymnasts or the swimmers. I get it that gymnastics and swimming are more popular sports to many, but you have barely heard a peep about this great American champion with SIX medals.
