California just seems to be making up all their own rules as they go, no matter how unconstitutional or ridiculous they are.

After being vetoed twice by former Governor Jerry Brown, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new bill into law on Friday that will allow employers, co-workers, and teachers to red flag other people. Meaning they can get gun violence restraining orders against anyone they "feel" is dangerous.

Before this law, only law enforcement officers and immediate family could appeal to a judge to take away someone's guns if they were deemed dangerous. Now a scorned co-worker can do the exact same. Yikes.

NBC Reports:

They were among 15 gun-related laws Newsom approved as the state strengthens what the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence calls the nation's toughest restrictions.

"California has outperformed the rest of the nation, because of our gun safety laws, in reducing the gun murder rate substantially compared to the national reduction," Newsom stated as he signed the new legislation, "No state does it as well or comprehensively as the state of California, and we still have a long way to go."

Between 1993 and 2017, the latest available, there was a 62% decline in the gun murder rate in California, nearly double the 34% nationally, he said.

Brady Campaign spokeswoman Amanda Wilcox, who lost her 19-year-old daughter to gun violence in 2001, said that California's laws are already so strict that the latest bills amount to "tweaks to policies already in place, ways to improve implementation" of existing limits.

Seventeen states and the District of Columbia have laws similar to California's current restraining order law, but the new law that takes effect on Jan. 1 will be broader.

Democratic Assemblyman Phil Ting, the author of the bill, stated: "With school and workplace shootings on the rise, it's common sense to give the people we see every day the power to intervene and prevent tragedies."

He added that this will allow more people to react, not just law enforcement.

This is a very, very dangerous game to play. The government is working quickly to take our rights away in every aspect. Here's the thing though: once they take your second amendment rights, they will able to take away anything else they want. The second amendment is the only amendment that protects the rest.
