Los Angeles Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins shared his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior after nailing the game-winning overtime kick versus the Denver Broncos in Monday Night Football.

Hopkins explained that his Christian faith was the driving force in persevering through life's obstacles.

“I just want to say thank you to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’ve got so much to be thankful for apart from football,” he said in a post-game interview with ESPN.

During the game Hopkins could be seen on the sideline in an awkward brace, preparing for his next opportunity.

“Before every kick, you knew that it was going to feel like somebody stabbed you with a knife,” Hopkins said, according to ESPN. “I was just kind of committed to swinging and dealing with the pain after the kick.”

Hopkins' four field goals and an extra point accounted for 12 of the Chargers' 19 points.
