Americans everywhere are feeling the pain at the pump, so we will take any kind of relief we can get. It's great to see a major US gas chain step up and offer massive savings at the pump through July 4th.

On Monday gas chain Sheetz announced they will be provided unleaded 88 gas at $3.99 a gallon and E85 for $3.49 a gallon. Sheetz put this into effect immediately to help "reduce pain at the pump for consumers."

"Unleaded 88 is approved by the EPA for use in vehicles for model years 2001 or newer as well as light-duty trucks, SUVs and Flex Fuel Vehicles," Sheetz said in a release. "E85 contains more ethanol (51%-83%) and is not compatible with all vehicles. It is designed specifically for "flexible fuel vehicles" or FFVs. FFVs can use regular gasoline (E10), E15, or E85. When available, E85 is clearly designated as a different fuel type and should not be used in standard vehicles. Check your owner's manual to see if your car is able to run with E85."

There are currently more than 650 Sheetz locations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.

Gas prices in the area are currently sitting around $5 a gallon, so this is massive savings for travelers headed through the area for the 4th of July holiday.

What to Expect for 4th of July Gas Prices

Unfortunately, many of us are nowhere near a Sheetz. So what kind of prices can we expect at the pump?

GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan predicted Sunday the national average for gas prices could fall to as low as $4.75 by July Fourth as crude oil prices fall.

Hopefully, other gas station chains will follow the lead of Sheetz and provide a similar break at the gas pumps.

If you've never been to Sheetz, it's a full-service gas station that also offers kiosks where you can order MTO (made-to-order) food. Check out this video for more information on Sheetz:
