Kamala Harris Stuns Social Media for Answer on Question About Gun Ownership

Vice President Harris made waves on social media Tuesday night, revealing during the debate that she and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are gun owners.

In Philadelphia, Republican candidate Donald Trump criticized Harris, claiming she had moved away from her previous far-left views since becoming the nominee.

"She wanted to defund the police. She planned to take away everyone’s guns. She was all for fracking until recently," Trump said.

Later, Harris fired back, clarifying her stance and dropping the bombshell that both she and Walz own guns.

"I’ve been clear on fracking, and as for guns, Tim and I are both gun owners. We’re not taking anyone’s guns away. Stop the lies," she said.

Questions quickly arose about the details of Harris’ gun ownership, such as the type of firearm she owns and when she last used it.

Harris’ campaign pointed to a 2019 CNN report, where an aide mentioned she purchased a handgun years ago, which is securely stored.

"Kamala Harris and I both own guns," Walz tweeted after the debate. "We’re not infringing on the Second Amendment, but we will keep schools safe from gun violence."

Social media exploded in response, with many sharing past clips of Harris supporting a mandatory gun buyback program during her 2019 campaign.

"Harris is lying. She claims she’s a gun owner and isn’t taking guns, but we know the truth," tweeted Wendy Patterson to her 193,300 followers.

"Since when is Kamala Harris a gun owner?" another user questioned.

Back in 2019, Harris called for banning assault weapons and stricter gun control laws, citing personal safety as her reason for owning a firearm.

"I’m a gun owner for safety, like many others," she said in August 2019. "I was a career prosecutor."

On "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Harris told a college student she supported mandatory buybacks of assault weapons, which she said have no place in society.

"They're designed to kill quickly. I’ve seen these weapons kill babies and officers," she said.

Harris promised that if Congress failed to act, she would use executive action to ban assault rifle imports and implement a buyback program to reduce the number of assault weapons in the country.
