During an interview, Chris Cuomo revealed how deeply he was affected by his dismissal as one of CNN's primary anchors, following his admission of leveraging his position at the network to assist his brother, the former governor of New York.
"I have learned to accept it, I had to accept because I was going to kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you. Italians are so passionate," said Cuomo.
Cuomo's remarks were made during his appearance on the "Open Book" podcast, hosted by the former White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci.
"And I really had to fight against that, because, you know just like you did, I got too many people counting on me!" Cuomo continued.
During the podcast, Cuomo discussed the aftermath of his termination, which resulted in a $125 million lawsuit against CNN for wrongful termination and defamation.
"I make a lot of mistakes. Sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad reasons," he admitted.
"I'm very flawed," Cuomo explained. "There is damage, there is damage that is relatable to people, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I do the work on."
Cuomo moved on from CNN to become a news anchor on NewsNation, but he admitted that he was disappointed with the lack of viewers.
“It’s hard to keep perspective on that because it’s kind of embarrassing,” Cuomo added.
In 2017, Scaramucci served as the White House Communications Director for a mere 11 days before publicly denouncing former President Donald Trump and accusing him of racism.
