Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is doing whatever he can to stop President Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from being officially confirmed. He has one issue: moderate Democrats. one of those being West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.

Schumer is facing immense pressure to take the Supreme Court nominee. On top of that he has many vulnerable Senate members up for re-election in the fall. In order to stop Kavanaugh, Schumer has to keep all 49 Democrats on his side while getting at least one Republican to go against his party.

Per Daily Wire:

"I’ll be 71 years old in August, you’re going to whip me? Kiss my you know what," Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said when asked if Schumer has power to influence how he chooses to vote in the confirmation, according to Politico.

The Democrats are facing a potential disaster this fall during the 2018 midterms as a recent poll suggested that Republicans could, in a best-case scenario, pick up nine seats in the Senate.

Vulnerable Democrat Senators facing re-election this fall include Sens. Joe Manchin (WV), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Joe Donnelly (IN), Claire McCaskill (MO), Jon Tester (MT), Bill Nelson (FL), Bill Casey (PA), Sherrod Brown (OH), and Tim Kaine (VA).

Those Democrats will be stuck between a rock and a hard place this fall, being forced to choose risking losing reelection based on how they vote during the confirmation or being ostracized by their own party if they do not cave to Schumer.

The left likes to pretend they are going to take over while the opposite actually appears to happen. There are many Senators who could easily lose in the fall and oh by the way, the Republicans already hold the majority.
