White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday that the midterm election results will not be clear on Tuesday and the final results won't appear for "a few days."
Jean-Pierre made this declaration on the eve of Election Day during a press conference. She made a case that because many states use mail-in voting and other forms of voting and those cannot be counted until after the election on Tuesday, that will cause the results to take time to come in.
"We may not know all the winners of elections for a few days. It takes time to count all legitimate ballots in a legal and orderly manner. That's how this is supposed to work," Jean-Pierre said to reporters.

"You heard the president say this last night," she added.
Jean-Pierre also said she expects President Biden to make address the nation with regard to the election Wednesday.
Republicans are fully expected to take over the house, with the Senate looking like a very even toss-up.
