Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Governor, is expected to announce her candidacy as a Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential nomination in the near future.
According to The Post and Courier of Charleston, Haley will formally announce her candidacy on February 15 at The Shed in downtown Charleston's Charleston Visitor Center.
Haley's reported decision to run for president appears to be in opposition to her prior commitment not to run if former President Donald Trump was also a candidate.
She confirmed to the Associated Press that she would support Trump if he runs for president in 2024. She stated, "I would not run if President Trump ran."
I asked @NikkiHaley if she would support Donald Trump if he runs again in 2024.
“Yes,” she told me.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” she added. “That’s something that we will have a conversation about, at some point.”

The Associated Press confirmed the report by The Post and Courier of Charleston, stating that Haley's key supporters will receive an email invitation to the launch event.
According to The Washington Post, Haley may release a video announcing her presidential bid this week, in an effort to generate excitement and boost attendance at her launch event.
A report from The Guardian pointed out that Trump is much more relaxed about Haley running for president when compared to DeSantis.
“Go by your heart if you want to run.” After saying that he did take a bit of a dig at her saying that she “publicly said that ‘I would never run against my president – he was a great president.’” Still, he did say she “should do it”.
