NFL Star Blasted for Appearing in Beer Commercial: 'Bud Light Sellout?'

Bud Light has enlisted George Kittle, the esteemed tight end of the San Francisco 49ers, in their latest NFL star-studded campaign. True to form, it played out as anticipated.

Kittle, emulating Travis Kelce, made an appearance in a Bud Light advertisement earlier this week. The ad was launched on the official Instagram account of the beer company. Kelce had participated in a similar campaign the previous week, and there's buzz about Dak Prescott, the Cowboys QB, potentially joining the ranks next.

In essence, the ad was brief yet engaging, showcasing Kittle rummaging through his wardrobe for his distinctive party shirt. Upon finding it, he exits his front door where an individual is spotted with a Bud Light.

“Hey old friend,” Kittle says during the ad.

Though the advert had a straightforward narrative, things in the Bud Light universe are rarely as simple. Predictably, criticism surged towards Kittle, to which he responded emphatically, making it abundantly clear that this was not his inaugural ride with the Bud Light brand.

“What a sellout,” one user commented.

“Been a bud light athlete since 2020 actually! Talk about what you know not what you think!” Kittle fired back.

Is there potential for these ads to succeed? The chances appear slim. To be candid, the opportunity might have passed already. Bud Light is continually under fire for every action or post they make, and they've experienced a downturn in sales for the past quarter.

Would an ad of George Kittle retrieving a shirt from his closet fix this? Probably not. However, it may be an improvement over using Mulvaney's image on a can to mark a significant transition.
