In Clark County, Nevada, a judge and a marshal got hurt on Wednesday. This happened when a person in court, who was not allowed to leave jail, jumped over the desk and attacked the judge. The judge's name is Mary Kay Holthus.

FOX 5, a news channel in Las Vegas, said that a court spokesperson told them about this. It happened when Judge Holthus was deciding the punishment for Deobra Redden.

FOX 5 mentioned that Redden was charged with attempted battery with substantial bodily harm.

In a video that Fox News Digital got, Redden's lawyer asks the judge to let Redden be on probation. Probation means Redden wouldn't go to jail but would have to follow certain rules.

"I think it’s time he got a taste of something else," Judge Holthus responded.

The video shows Redden jumping over the judge's desk. He is in the air with his arms and legs spread out. Then he lands on the judge.

The station added that Judge Holthus was injured but did not go to the hospital.

Also injured was a marshal, who, on video, is seen throwing punches.

The marshal was hospitalized and listed in stable condition, FOX 5 reported.

"We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant," the court said in a statement given to the station. "The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public and our employees."

Besides the first charge against him, Redden now has more charges. These include attacking a person with special legal protection and causing serious harm, and another charge of attack. He also has two more charges for attacking a protected person.

Redden has to go to court again on Thursday. Get your popcorn ready.
