On Tuesday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed that the recently appointed interim speaker, Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry from North Carolina, instructed her to leave her Capitol building office.
She still holds her standard office in the Cannon House office building.
After 6 p.m. on Tuesday, an email from McHenry's office to Pelosi's team, which CNN had a chance to see, read, “Going to reassign h-132 for speaker office use. Please vacate the space tomorrow.”
Pelosi mentioned in her remarks that she wasn't in Washington, DC, to promptly relocate her possessions.

Amid all the pivotal matters that the emerging Republican Leadership must tackle, one of their initial steps was rather personal, the California Democrat shared. “With all of the important decisions that the new Republican Leadership must address, which we are all eagerly awaiting, one of the first actions taken by the new Speaker Pro Tempore was to order me to immediately vacate my office in the Capitol,” she noted. She added her regrets about not being able to attend to this due to a personal loss, saying, “Sadly, because I am in California to mourn the loss of and pay tribute to my dear friend Dianne Feinstein, I am unable to retrieve my belongings at this time.”
