After half a year of high-security fencing around the Capitol building, it is finally being removed, police stated on Sunday.
The eight-foot-high fence was erected after the January 6th “insurrection,” which at one point also surrounded several blocks around Capitol Hill as well. The fencing interfered with pedestrian and vehicle traffic, causing the city a real nuisance.
City workers began removing the fence on Friday.
Epoch Times reports:
The decision to take down the remaining fencing was based on the current threat environment and recent enhancements to the Capitol Police’s response capabilities, according to a statement released by the agency.
“We are prepared to quickly enhance our security posture should the need arise,” said Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman in the statement.
More than 535 people have been charged in taking part in the Jan. 6 breach.
You will never convince me that the people inciting rioting and violence at the Capitol were true Trump supporters and Conservatives. There were definitely Antifa, or other anarchists, in the midsts of the crowd dressed as Trump supporters in order to help create the chaos that ensued.
It’s funny though....the same people who claim that a wall at the border will not keep people out thought that a fence would keep people out of the Capitol. The irony is uncanny.
