The Dallas Police Department released a picture of a man they thought to be a suspect in the shooting. This was in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
His name was Mark Hughes and he turned himself in after a photo of him holding a rifle was posted on Twitter by DPD.

Videos surfaced of him being involved in the protest. This proved he was not the shooter. Also he met with law enforcement and handed over his gun.
Still. DPD did not take down the tweet and Hughes is receiving death threats. He is now at a safe place. Also, there is now video of Mark handing over his rifle.
