There was a two-hour call Thursday morning between President Joe Biden and China's President Xi Jinping amid rising tension regarding Taiwan, according to a report from Chinese state media.
The fifth call between the two since Biden took office occurred due to the potential impending visit to Taiwan from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Biden tweeted an image of him on the phone with Xi while in the Oval Office.
"Today I spoke with President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China as part of our efforts to deepen lines of communication, responsibly manage our differences, and address issues of mutual interest," he captioned the image of his tweet.

According to a report from Chinese state media, President Xi had a different approach to the call. The report claimed Xi told Biden: "Those who play with fire will only get burnt. Hope the U.S. side can see this clearly."

When Pelosi was asked about her plans for her upcoming trip, she said she wouldn't comment on her movements for security reasons.
