On Monday Chicago Police found the body of a missing landlord stuffed inside a freezer located at the home. A tenant, who was renting a room from the landlord, is believed to have committed the grisly murder and is now in custody.

Frances Walker, the landlord, has rented out rooms at the home she has lived at for decades.

“I know that she’s very friendly," her neighbor Miranda Castillo told WFLD. "She’s familiar with everybody else in the neighborhood.”

Another of her neighbors, Andy, pointed out that he became suspicious when he no longer saw her gardening in the front yard daily.

“We just assumed she was sick because it’s flu season,” said Andy. “And then we started to realize she wasn’t around and tried calling her. We received no text or call and that’s when we thought something had happened.”

Another neighbor asked for a well-being check and report her missing on Monday.

Chicago Police Department Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan stated, “When the police arrived, that individual told the police there was another suspect who lived in the residence who the other tenants were afraid of. And that suspect had recently called a tow truck and carried a heavy bag out to the tow truck.”

“Based upon that evidence the detectives were able to go into the residence, and they eventually discovered human remains in a freezer,” Deenihan reported. “At that point we backed out of the residence to secure a search warrant.”

A homicide investigation has been opened by the Chicago Police Department, but at this point no charges have been filed.
