Mariano Rivera, the New York Yankees icon, backs former President Trump for a November victory. He gave his endorsement on WABC radio's "Sid & Friends."

Rivera, speaking to Sid Rosenberg, stated he'd vote for Trump, calling him a friend. "President Trump, he's my friend," he said. "I'm going to vote for him."

Trump honored Rivera with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019. As a Yankees fan, Trump called Rivera "maybe the greatest pitcher of all time."

At the medal ceremony, Trump highlighted Rivera's humility and Christian faith. "The Lord cares about goodness and love in our hearts," Trump noted.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is a top civilian award. Notables like Tiger Woods and Jerry West have also received it.

Receiving the medal was an "amazing moment," Rivera shared with Rosenberg.

An event at the White House saw Trump and Rivera (not pictured) playing catch. This celebrated MLB's Opening Day in 2020.

Rivera's career spanned 19 seasons with the Yankees, amassing 652 saves and five World Series titles.
