On Tuesday, a conservative TikTok user, going by the name "Chatterbox Mama," strongly criticized Nike for using transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney to promote its female sportswear line, calling it an absurd gimmick that belittles women.
In a scathing video, she announced her personal boycott of Nike for the rest of her life and called upon others to join her in protesting against Nike's derogatory portrayal of womanhood.
“Nike, you should be ashamed of yourself,” she said. “You chose a little boy with no breasts and some junk in his pants to represent real women.”
Chatterbox Mama continued, “Nike, I am done with you. I will never, ever buy another Nike product as long as I live. And there are millions and millions and millions of women just like me.”
The mother encouraged her followers to take action by boycotting Nike, as she believed that by hiring a man to represent women, the company was openly displaying their contempt for womanhood. She urged people to make their voices heard by voting with their wallets.
“We are the queens,” she said. “Your consumers hit you where it hurts, and that’s right in your pocket. … I challenge every real woman that is sick of this nonsense.
“It’s a great night to burn my Nike bras.”
She then faced the camera and challenged others to take part in the Burn Bra Challenge.
At this point the viral video is nowhere to be found. The chatterbox.mama TikTok account has also been removed.
The person who appears to be the same individual behind the "Chatterbox Mama" account created a new account under the handle "@chatterbox.mama.64". On Thursday, they posted an update stating that they had received a permanent ban from the platform.
“Well, it looks like the rumors are true,” she said. “Freedom of speech is really dead. Chatterbox.mama, sad to say, was permanently banned by TikTok today for speaking out against Nike and what’s happening to real women’s rights.
