While the Democrats are up in arms with regards to a new Supreme Court justice being appointed, there is overwhelming evidence pointing that they would undoubtedly move forward with the process if they were in the same situation. In fact, Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the Senate should hold a SCOTUS justice confirmation hearing during an election year.
"There's nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being the president in his last year," Ginsburg said during a 2016 New York Times interview.
When asked whether or not the Senate should take a vote on Garland, Ginsburg said, "That's their job."

The Democrats love pretending that they would not push a new justice through in the months before the election. There is zero doubt they would do the exact same the Republicans are doing right now. In fact, here's Joe Biden in 2016 saying they should do exactly that:

Hmm, I wonder what has changed since then? Oh, that's right, there is a Republican president while the Senate remains Republican-controlled.
