Former President Donald Trump announced he won’t participate in any more debates ahead of the 2024 election.
On his social media platform, Trump pointed out that Kamala Harris could have debated on Fox News on Sept. 4 or negotiated a second one before the ABC debate.
"She didn’t show up for the Fox Debate and skipped NBC and CBS. KAMALA SHOULD HAVE DONE HER JOB IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. NO THIRD DEBATE!" Trump wrote.
Later, during a rally in Tucson, Arizona, Trump told the crowd there would be no more debates with Harris.
"We did two debates, they went great. No third debate, it’s too late," he said. "Voting has already started."
Harris had challenged Trump to another debate right after their clash in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Speaking at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harris didn’t mention Trump’s post but insisted they owed voters another debate.
"Tuesday night, we debated, and I believe we owe it to voters to do it again," Harris said. "This election is too important. I talked about issues like cost of living, small businesses, reproductive rights, and security."
"But from Trump, it was the same old thing, no real plans, all about him," she added. "It’s time to turn the page."
Harris repeated the same message at a Greensboro, North Carolina rally without mentioning Trump's refusal.
Meanwhile, her running mate, Tim Walz, commented on it during a speech in Michigan, saying Harris and Trump should debate daily.
"But it won’t happen," Walz said. "Trump said he’s out. Guess that last one stung. His true colors were on full display, not just his makeup."
