Donald Trump accused Kamala Harris of lying about working at McDonald's. This claim has stirred up endless speculation.
Speaking at the Moms for Liberty convention in Washington, Trump expressed doubt about Harris's story. She has used this detail to highlight her ordinary background.
"She also said, 'I worked at McDonald's.' Turned out she didn't work at McDonald's," Trump told the audience.
"Did anyone see that?" Trump asked. "After an exhaustive study that took about 20 minutes, they found out she never worked there."
At the same convention, Trump reiterated his accusation, fueling more questions about Harris's claim.
In April, Harris appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show. She was asked if she worked at the fast food restaurant.
"I did. Yes, I did work at McDonald's," Harris confirmed. "When I was at school…I did fries. And then I did the cashier."
Harris claimed she worked at a franchise in the California Bay Area. This was during the summer after her freshman year at Howard University.
However, she only mentioned this detail when she ran for president five years ago.
In 2019, at a labor rally in Las Vegas, she first referred to her time at McDonald's.
"I worked in McDonald's," she told the crowd. "I was a student when I was working at McDonald's."
Some have been skeptical from the start. They noted Harris hadn't mentioned it on the campaign trail or in her memoirs.
