Travis Kelce Had One Rule For Himself When Appearing on Stage with Taylor Swift

Being an NFL tight end translates well into being a pop superstar's boyfriend. It's all about protecting the most important asset.

Last month, Travis Kelce showcased his ball security and footwork on girlfriend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stage.

He surprised fans in London. Kelce shared how it happened on the season 2 finale of his podcast "New Heights," with brother Jason Kelce.

"On night three, something magical happened," Jason said. "Somehow, you made your way onto the Eras stage."

"It's very unlike me," Travis joked, dripping with sarcasm. "I don't love going on stages."

"I mentioned it to Tay. I said, ‘How funny if I rolled out on one of the bikes during the ’1989' era?'" he told Jason. "She laughed and said, 'Would you do that?' I was like, ‘Are you kidding? I'd love to. I've seen the show enough. Put me to work.'"

"She found the perfect part of the show for me. No bike, in case I ran into someone or hit a dancer. It was the safest option."

Instead, Travis appeared during "The Tortured Poets Department" segment, with backup dancers Cam and Jan.

"[They] are trying to bring Tay back to life, get her ready to perform," Travis said, referencing Swift's track "Can Do It With A Broken Heart."

"I've seen the show enough. Might as well put me to work here."

"It's a fun, playful part of the show," Travis said. "Perfect time for me to go up there, be a ham, and have fun with [Taylor], Cam, Jan, and the crowd. I played with Tay and got her makeup right."

At one point, Travis picked Swift up and carried her.

"I told myself, ‘Do not drop Taylor. Do not drop her on your way to the couch.' The rule was to get Taylor to the couch safely," he joked.

Travis admitted performing isn't out of the realm for him. He does it offstage regularly.

"I've seen the show many times," he said. "I'll find myself in the crowd doing the choreography."

"I didn't disappoint Taylor. That's all that matters," he said.

Later, Travis hinted at more appearances.

"Shoutout to Tay for letting me on stage. Who knows? Might not be the last time. Keep showing up to the Eras Tour to see if I pop out again," he told listeners.

"What could I do next? I told her, ‘Once I get comfortable, I stop listening and do my own thing.'"

Swift is on the international leg of her tour. London and Dublin have been popular among stars. Celebrities like Hugh Grant, Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, Stevie Nicks, and Julia Roberts have attended.

Her next show is July 4 in Amsterdam.
