John Hinckley Jr attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan in March of 1981. He will be free to live with his mother in a gated community in Virginia. In a year and a half his restrictions will be lifted and the 60 year old Hinckley will be a freeman.
Michael Reagan, the President's son has taken a forgiving approach.
My father did more than say the Lords Prayer He lived it in forgiving John Hinkley Jr...Maybe we should do the same....Mike Reagan

The Reagan Foundation does not share the view of Michael Reagan.
"Contrary to the judge's decision, we believe John Hinckley is still a threat to others and we strongly oppose his release," was the statement that the Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute released.
35 years after attempting to assassinate President Reagan, Hinckley is on the brink of regaining his freedom.
