Prince Harry Gets Backlash For Attacking President Trump

Self-exiled British royal Prince Harry faced immediate backlash and boos from Stephen Colbert’s own audience for making a tired, left-wing quip about President Trump. The moment confirmed that even the liberal New York City crowd is tired of the Duke of Sussex’s political posturing.

The awkward comedy sketch featured Harry auditioning for a Christmas movie. He said he was looking for the audition for the "Gingerbread Prince saves Christmas in Nebraska."

When the left-wing host Colbert pretended to question America’s obsession with royalty, Harry couldn’t help himself. He took a direct political dig, saying, “Really? I heard you elected a king.”

Even Colbert’s audience reacted immediately with loud booing and groans of dissent. The late-night host weakly tried to justify the joke, telling the crowd, “That’s a fair point, he’s got a point.”

Harry continued to reference his own family history. He sarcastically added that Americans are “often making such a big deal about my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather George III,” the king who lost the American Revolution.

The British royal then took aim at the massive $16 million settlement CBS paid President Trump. Harry joked that he would do “All the things you people on TV do,” including to “settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House.”

Colbert immediately distanced himself from the payment. “Harry, I didn’t do any of those things,” the late-night host said. Harry snapped back with a reference to Colbert’s recent cancellation, quipping, “Maybe that’s why you’re canceled.”

President Trump has made it clear he has little sympathy for the self-exiled royal. Trump joked earlier this year that he would leave Harry alone because, “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

Trump previously said the Duke of Sussex "betrayed the queen." He has called Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, "nasty" and said he was "not a fan" of hers.
