Political analyst Mark Halperin said this week that recent private polling data shows Trump’s chances are strong. Both Democrats and Republicans believe he could win.
On his livestream, Halperin shared that both sides are noticing Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is slipping. They see Trump as having the edge.
"In the conversations I'm having with Trump people and Democrats with data, they are extremely bullish on Trump's chances in the last 48 hours. Extremely bullish," Halperin stated.
He described Harris' campaign as an “experiment” that's now struggling.
"Can you win a short campaign with an untested candidate?" he asked. He explained that private polls show she’s facing serious challenges.
Halperin pointed to a New York Times poll showing Harris ahead of Trump by only three points. He noted it’s within the margin of error, making the lead shaky. Her team would prefer a +4 margin to feel confident.
He also referenced a Wall Street Journal report about Wisconsin polling. Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s internal poll shows Harris trailing Trump by three points there.
"There’s no path without Wisconsin," he stressed. Baldwin’s numbers, he said, are a wake-up call. "Wisconsin and Michigan are looking worse for Harris."
Halperin, along with pundits like Sean Spicer and Dan Turrentine, agreed that Baldwin releasing these numbers signals trouble for Harris. It’s a clear "alarm bell" for the Democrats.
Halperin then addressed his pro-Harris viewers, telling them, "If you want to pretend the campaign is fine, go ahead. But we’re telling you what’s really happening." He mentioned that new private polling shows Harris is "in a lot of trouble."
He ended by warning that Harris is in danger of losing every swing state except Nevada. "I'm not saying she’ll lose all six, but she’s in danger," Halperin concluded.
