Verizon is launching a new initiative to offer bundled streaming services, including ad-supported versions of Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, for $10 monthly to its unlimited plan wireless customers. This pricing represents a significant 40% savings compared to the $17 monthly cost if subscribed to individually.
Typically, in such agreements, Verizon pays a bulk rate to its service partners per subscriber. These bundles, offered at a discount, are part of Verizon's strategy to attract more customers in the fiercely competitive wireless market. For Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery, this partnership provides a fresh avenue to expand their ad-tier audience.
Starting December 7, Verizon mobile subscribers with select unlimited plans can access a bundle offer featuring Netflix and Max. This marks the first instance where Netflix and Max services are combined, exclusively available to Verizon wireless customers on the Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, or Unlimited Ultimate plans.
“Verizon is the first provider to offer a bundle of Netflix & Max (with ads) and it’s available to all myPlan customers,” Verizon said Monday in announcing the deal. “Verizon is using its strategic relationships with the biggest players in the content industry to continue to unlock more value for its wireless customers.”
Verizon explains that after signing up for the Netflix and Max (With Ads) benefit, customers must set up accounts for each service individually and access their content separately. Additionally, Verizon highlighted, “Managing subscriptions may be required to avoid multiple subscriptions and corresponding charges.”
The cost-effectiveness of this offer is calculated based on the current monthly fees of $6.99 for Netflix Standard With Ads and $9.99 for the Max (With Ads) plan in the U.S.
Furthermore, Verizon presents 10 different $10 monthly packages through its myPlan program. These include the Disney bundle (featuring Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+), Apple TV+, Walmart+, TravelPass, among others.
