McDonald's Spicy McNuggets are making a comeback. They returned to US stores on March 25.
Food blogger @snackolater hinted on Instagram that the Spicy McNuggets might be returning. McDonald's USA confirmed the news, saying, "Spice-loving McDonald’s fans, you’re in luck – because our Spicy Chicken McNuggets are returning to the menu in select local markets. The Spicy Chicken McNuggets will be available starting March 25, for a limited time only at participating restaurants."
Fans are ecstatic. One person on X said, "Spicy McNuggets are back. It’s a good day." Another pleaded, "I’ll do anything if you make the Spicy McNuggets a permanent menu item. Please please please."
The nuggets have been missed. However, McDonald's noted that they'll be available only in select locations and for a limited time.
If they're at your nearest McDonald's, get them while you can. Enjoy the spicy treat before it disappears again.
McDonald's menu has seen a rotating cast of items over the years, with some fan favorites making comeback appearances after being discontinued. Here are a few notable mentions:
- The McRib, a saucy, pork sandwich, has been playing a game of hide and seek with the menu since its introduction in 1981. Its periodic returns create a buzz among fans who can't get enough of its unique taste.
- Spicy McNuggets made a spicy splash when first introduced and have since been a hot topic every time they're brought back. Their limited-time appearances keep fans on their toes, eagerly awaiting their return.
- The Szechuan Sauce, famously linked to a "Rick and Morty" episode, saw a fervent demand for its return. McDonald's answered by bringing it back for a short period, causing quite the stir among fans of the show and the sauce alike.
- Salad lovers felt a pang of loss when McDonald's removed salads from the menu in 2020 due to the pandemic. As of now, there's been no word on their return, leaving health-conscious diners hopeful for a comeback.
- The Snack Wrap, a beloved item for those seeking a lighter option, was phased out in the US in 2016. Its discontinuation left fans clamoring for its return, demonstrating the lasting impact of even the simplest menu items.
- McDonald's once offered a pizza in the 1980s and 1990s, known as the McPizza. Despite its eventual discontinuation, it remains a topic of nostalgia and curiosity among long-time fans of the chain.
- The Hi-C Orange Lavaburst was a staple beverage choice for many McDonald's visitors until its removal in 2017. After vocal demands from fans, McDonald's announced its return in 2021, quenching the thirst of many nostalgic customers.
- The Arch Deluxe, introduced in the 1990s as a more "adult" burger, didn't quite hit the mark and was eventually discontinued. However, it's still remembered by fans as a unique attempt to cater to a more sophisticated palate.
Each of these items tells a story of McDonald's willingness to innovate and sometimes, resurrect beloved favorites in response to customer demand. Whether it's a fleeting taste of nostalgia or a permanent fixture, the excitement around these returns speaks to the enduring legacy of McDonald's menu.
