McConnell Goes Rogue, Breaks With RNC - Declares Jan. 6 a 'Violent Insurrection'

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's RINO side reared its ugly head again.

McConnell broke with the Republican National Committee (RNC) on Tuesday, after the party censured Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their part in the Jan. 6 witch hunt.

He declared the Capitol riot was a "violent insurrection" and defended the censured representatives by insisting that it is not the RNC's place to "single out" members who toe the party line.

When asked by reporters if he felt the censure was appropriate, McConnell replied, "'Let me give him my view of what happened January the 6th, and we all were here. We saw what happened. It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election."

He continued, "With regard to the suggestion that the RNC should be in the business of picking and choosing Republicans who ought to be supported -- traditionally, the view of the national party committees is that we support all members of our party, regardless of their positions on some issues."

"The issue is, whether or not the RNC should be sort of singling out members of our party who may have different views than the majority," McConnell added. "That's not the job of the RNC."
