The statement holds true for all things, but specifically for firearms: if a falsehood is repeated frequently enough, it becomes accepted as truth by the mainstream media.
Consider the term "assault weapons." In reality, there is no such definitive category, but rather a vague legal definition that encompasses intimidating firearms such as the AR-15 that were prohibited during the administration of former President Bill Clinton.
According to the beliefs of the Democratic Party, the prohibition led to a reduction in gun violence. However, following the expiration of the ban after a decade, gun violence increased during the administration of President George W. Bush.
Following a series of mass shootings, President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party are now advocating for a renewed ban on "assault weapons," exploiting the tragedy to push their agenda. This was once again reiterated during a media briefing by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, where she highlighted that Biden has urged Congressional Republicans to collaborate with Democrats in enacting legislation to prohibit assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
As per the White House transcript of the media briefing, Jean-Pierre was questioned about whether Biden was currently incapable of enacting the type of gun control legislation he desires.
After Jean-Pierre said Biden “has done more executive action than any other president when it comes to gun violence, when it comes to stemming gun violence, when it comes to protecting our communities or schools,” before adding that Biden “cannot do it alone.”
Then she unleashed the great "assault weapon ban" lie.
“If you think about assault — an assault weapons ban, we know, when we saw — when the president was involved in 1994 to get that done, we saw gun violence go down. And when it sunset 10 years later, it went back up,” Jean-Pierre said.
“So we know what could work. And that’s why you continue to hear the president calling on Congress to take action.”

Therefore, the assertion made by Jean-Pierre is entirely unfounded. Despite this, the narrative surrounding the so-called "assault weapons" continues to be propagated. Instead of addressing the fundamental problems of mental health and societal decay, these weapons are wrongly held responsible as supposed "instruments of war."
