An official from the office of Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, stated on Monday that he will return shortly, as he remains hospitalized for clinical depression, now in its third week.

On Monday, Adam Jentleson, the chief of staff for Senator Fetterman, tweeted that they had a productive morning at Walter Reed discussing rail safety legislation, the Farm Bill, and other Senate matters. The tweet also included pictures of the senator working at a table in the hospital.

"John is well on his way to recovery and wanted me to say how grateful he is for all the well wishes. He’s laser focused on PA & will be back soon," Jentleson added.

According to his office, Fetterman admitted himself to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on the evening of February 15th to seek treatment for clinical depression. This occurred less than a week after being discharged following a three-day hospitalization for experiencing lightheadedness.

Joe Calvello, the communications director for Fetterman, gave an update on the senator's well-being last week, stating that he was making progress, working with medical professionals, and "remains on the path to recovery."

Fetterman's hospital stay follows a difficult year for the 53-year-old, who suffered a stroke shortly before the May Democratic Senate primary election and spent most of the summer recuperating rather than campaigning. He has disclosed that the stroke nearly took his life, and he underwent a procedure to implant a pacemaker with a defibrillator to manage two heart conditions - atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy.

In January, Fetterman took the oath of office to become a Senator, having defeated his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz.
