Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, former Biden COVID advisor and one of the architects of Obamacare, claimed Monday that President Joe Biden likely had cancer at the start of his presidency—if not earlier.
The White House revealed Sunday that Biden has been diagnosed with an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer, scoring a Gleason 9 (Grade Group 5) and showing metastasis to the bone.
Speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Emanuel said that level of cancer progression doesn’t happen overnight. “He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021,” he said. “He did not develop it in the last 100-200 days.”
Host Joe Scarborough asked for clarification, saying, “So this is not speculation. If you have prostate cancer that has spread to the bone, then most certainly… he had it when he was President of the United States.” Emanuel confirmed, “Oh, yeah… I don't think there's any disagreement about that.”
Scarborough noted that while many men over 70 skip prostate exams, “most men aren’t President of the United States.” Emanuel agreed, saying it’s concerning in the case of a sitting president.
He explained that former Presidents Obama and Bush were tested. “It is a little surprising that the doctor didn’t take it,” Emanuel said. “And if he took it and didn’t report it… that is another case of doctors not being straightforward with us.”
He referenced past transparency issues with President Trump, especially during his COVID diagnosis. Emanuel said if Biden’s doctors withheld elevated test results, “that would be very troubling.”
While he acknowledged it’s possible for a test to miss cancer at that stage, he called it “unlikely.” “Either they didn’t test for it, or they didn’t report it. And we didn’t get the information as a public,” he said.
