Country Song Debuts at No. 2, Jumps 999% in Streams After Woke Backlash

Following its online trendiness last week, Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town" experienced a remarkable surge in streams by 999%, as reported by Luminate, the music sales and streaming analytics firm.

The latest song from Aldean saw its audio and video streams skyrocket from 987,000 to an astounding 11.7 million within the week after the music video was unveiled. This marks a significant increase of 999%.

In addition to the boost in streams, FOX Business was informed by Luminate that there was a significant rise in sales for "Try That In A Small Town." Prior to the release of Aldean's music video, the song had sold 1,000 tracks. However, last week, this popular country tune recorded sales of 228,000 tracks.

Jason Aldean achieved another significant milestone on Monday as "Try That In A Small Town" secured the number two position on Billboard's Hot 100 list. This is the first time the country music artist has claimed this high a position on the chart, surpassing his previous best of seventh place in July 2011 with "Dirt Road Anthem."

There's a potential sales surge on the horizon for Aldean as his controversial song reached the number one spot on iTunes.

Over the past weekend, Aldean responded to the criticism received after the debut of his latest music video. In several social media videos, he humorously referred to having had "a long-a-- week."

"It's been a long week, and I've seen a lot of stuff," the country singer said between songs on Friday. "I've seen a lot of stuff suggesting I'm this, suggesting I'm that."

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 46-year-old Aldean dismissed the idea that his latest song, which was aired in May and only recently accompanied by a music video, has any connotations related to "race or points to it."
