According to Union Police Department, an assistant manager at a Burger King on Highway 176's Duncan Bypass is accused of serving fries that were allegedly retrieved from the garbage to patrons.
As reported by FOX Carolina, the South Carolina employee, Jaime Christine Major, 39, has been arrested and is facing charges for the malicious tampering of food intended for human consumption.
Police were called to the restaurant on July 9 in response to a reported disturbance, according to law enforcement officials.
Upon arrival at the location, law enforcement personnel witnessed two women in a heated exchange with the restaurant staff, involving threats and use of foul language. Despite an officer's attempts to de-escalate the situation, the women persisted in their disruptive behavior, leading to an arrest for disorderly conduct, as reported by the news station.
On July 11, just two days later, the police received another complaint. This time, the allegation was that fries were reportedly being discarded into a trash bin, only to be served to patrons later.
According to FOX Carolina, police stated that Major was said to have tossed the fries into the garbage, before retrieving them and placing them into the container typically used for freshly cooked fries, with a new batch then placed on top.
"These allegations do not align to the brand's commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional Guest experience," a Burger King spokesperson said to Fox. "The Franchisee of this restaurant is cooperating with local authorities and will take appropriate action based on the findings."

Major was taken into custody at the Union County Detention Center on July 17, with a bond set at $20,000.
As of July 19, a search in the inmate database reveals that Major is no longer detained at the center.
