Blood is Shed in a Fatal McDonald's Dipping Sauce Argument

A Waldorf, Maryland, teenager was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning after a dispute over a fast-food dipping sauce turned physical.

Now, a Washington, D.C., Superior Court magistrate judge has ordered the suspect accused of stabbing the 16-year-old be held at a secured juvenile facility until her next hearing Friday.

FOX 5 DC reported that the suspect, also 16 and from Waldorf, faces second-degree murder and multiple other charges in the fatal stabbing of Naima Liggon.

Before announcing her verdict, Judge Sherri Beatty-Arthur reportedly informed the court that the matter was a "dispute over sauce."

Around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, a group of youths made a stop at the McDonald’s located at U Street and 14th Street Northwest in Washington after traveling from Maryland for a D.C. party.

In the juvenile hearing on Monday, details emerged that a disagreement began in the car over the fast-food chain's sweet and sour dipping sauce, which then escalated to a physical altercation. The teenagers, still close to the restaurant, exited the vehicle, and the conflict persisted.

A defense attorney for the suspect argued that Liggon was stabbed in self-defense after the suspect was ambushed during the brawl.

Prosecutors contested this assertion, stating that surveillance video indicated the altercation had concluded when the suspect advanced toward Liggon as she made her way back to the car.

After sustaining stab injuries to the abdomen and torso, Liggon was taken to Howard University Hospital where she was later declared deceased.
