"Real Time" host Bill Maher criticized President Biden's commencement address at Morehouse College. He suggested that Biden's comments on racism are not reflective of current times.
At the historically Black college, Biden remarked that students must outperform others significantly to receive equal opportunities. He claimed Republicans do not see Black people in America's future.
"They don't see you in the future of America. But they're wrong," Biden asserted to the graduates.
On "Gutfeld," Maher described Biden's speech as "not helpful" and "anachronistic." He believes it's important to recognize ongoing racism but insists that the conditions Biden described are outdated.
"I always keep saying, let's live in the year we're living in. We're not living in the year where you have to be ‘10 times better’ to succeed if you're a person of color," Maher added. He noted that sometimes being a person of color can be an advantage, contradicting Biden's implications.
Maher has often voiced criticism towards the left for failing to acknowledge societal progress in terms of race.
"If you think America is more racist now than ever, more sexist than before women could vote and more homophobic than when b---j--s were a felony, you have ‘progressophobia’ and should adjust your mask because it's covering your eyes," Maher commented in 2021.
Last month, Maher disagreed with "Real Time" guest Don Lemon, who discussed the challenges he faces as a gay Black man.
Additionally, Maher humorously compared Trump's vigor to Biden's age during a segment with Greg Gutfeld. After showing a clip of Trump energetically engaging with a crowd, Maher observed that Trump, despite being nearly as old as Biden, appears much younger.
"Look, he's almost the same age as Biden. But Biden presents as old. Ancient. That does not look old. He does not present as old," Maher remarked. He likened Trump to the rock band KISS, suggesting he retains a youthful persona with his energetic demeanor.
