Per Yahoo, there have been reliable intelligence sources in the West, that have indicated that the emails that were intercepted from Hillary Clinton's private server will be released. The Russian government is set to release the text from these emails.
Per Yahoo:
The release would, the messaging indicated, prove that Secretary Clinton had, in fact, laid open U.S. secrets to foreign interception by putting highly-classified Government reports onto a private server in violation of U.S. law, and that, as suspected, the server had been targeted and hacked by foreign intelligence services.
The report stated that the final decision for these to be leaked will be made by the Russian Federation President Vladimiar Putin. The information will be provided through a third party, such as WikiLeaks.
Moscow's indication of their intention to leak these emails was something that was done in order to pressure the US legal system into faster legal actions. The potential of the leak having ramifications with regards to the US presidential election is a key motivator in providing Russia with the leverage they are looking for.
