Woman Waits 4 Hours to Try New McDonald's Spinoff - Was it Worth It?

CosMc's, a new venture separate from McDonald's, has officially launched to the excitement of customers willing to wait for hours to sample its unique drink and snack offerings.

This drive-thru-centric establishment focuses on beverages and has seen immense popularity during its initial week, leading to the involvement of local police in Bolingbrook, Illinois, nearly 30 miles from Chicago, to manage the traffic surrounding the inaugural location.

Kristina Buchthal Alkass, a customer, recounted her experience of waiting four hours for a Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich and Citrus and Cream Shake, affirming that the lengthy wait was justified by the quality of the food.

"The food was delicious," Alkass said to Fox. "The wait was worth it — not only for the delicious food, but also because there was so much anticipation around the new concept. I loved seeing the employees decked out in CosMc’s colors, and everyone with whom I interacted seemed happy to share the new menu items."

Alkass holds a strong admiration for McDonald's, a sentiment rooted in her previous role as the senior editor for Restaurants & Institutions magazine, where she extensively covered the franchise. The debut of a new McDonald's concept was particularly significant for her. She shared a highly positive review on Facebook, praising CosMc's as "delicious and exciting." Her enthusiasm extended to the various menu items she sampled, about which she expressed great appreciation.

"I ordered a Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, a Citrus and Cream Shake, Pretzel Bites with Spicy Queso, and a Popping Pear Slush," Alkass wrote, recounting her December 9th visit.

"In just one bite, I was reminded that McDonald's makes a darn good sandwich. The egg was great, the bacon was thick, the sauce was spicy and creamy without overwhelming the other flavors. The steamy brioche was the MVP."

CosMc's, while sharing some association with McDonald's, is distinctively different, aligning more as McDonald's response to Starbucks. This new brand focuses on bespoke beverages and snacks, diverging from the typical meal offerings of standard McDonald's outlets. Alkass agrees with this comparison and commends CosMc's for its more competitive pricing compared to the renowned coffee chain based in Seattle.
