A woman from Metro Atlanta experienced an unexpected surprise when she discovered a $7,112.98 charge on her credit card for a Subway sandwich, according to a report from WSB TV. The woman, a frequent patron of Subway, typically spends $7.50 on her usual order. However, during her routine check of her weekly credit card statement, she was startled to see such an exorbitant charge for her preferred Italian sub.
Initially baffled by this anomaly, she investigated and found that the charge was likely due to a mix-up at the point of sale, as reported by WSB TV. She theorized that the touchscreen, which she used to enter her phone number, may have accidentally interpreted her input as a tip amount, leading to the unusually high charge.
“I must have been keying it in the pad, and the screen changed,” Conner told WSB TV.

Upon noticing the charge, Conner immediately sought a refund, but faced several obstacles. She encountered resistance from the Subway store manager and, initially, Bank of America, her credit card issuer, sent a letter denying her dispute claim. Conner was aware that errors like these are typically recognizable and fixable, as stated by WSB TV.
