Whoopi Goldberg Blasts 'The View' Co-host for Calling Biden a Liar

Whoopi Goldberg called out Alyssa Farah Griffin on "The View" Monday over claims that President Biden lied about pardoning his son, Hunter Biden.

Griffin said, "I take issue with lying about it. Biden said so many times he wouldn’t pardon Hunter. That, to me, is lying to the public. It’s why people don’t trust Washington. I like Joe Biden, but I find it disappointing and bad for our institutions."

Goldberg jumped in, saying, "I would stop calling it a lie." Griffin replied, "Why lie about it for so long?"

Biden announced Sunday he would pardon his son, despite previous statements saying he wouldn’t. This led to heated reactions on the show.

Griffin pressed, "Why repeatedly say you won’t and then do it? Half the country feels the system only benefits those in power. What precedent does this set?"

Goldberg defended Biden, linking the decision to Trump’s presidency. "We’ve elected someone before who knew what they were doing and still went ahead. Biden might have thought, ‘Why stay straight when no one else is?’"

Griffin stood firm, wishing Biden had been honest. "I respect it as a parent," she said. "But why not be truthful?"

Goldberg responded, "He’s the sitting president. He can do what he wants until his time is up."

In a Sunday statement, Biden explained, "Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. I said I wouldn’t interfere with the Justice Department, and I kept my word. But my son was treated unfairly by prosecutors."

The co-hosts of "The View" have long called on Biden to pardon Hunter. Sunny Hostin claimed Hunter was only indicted because of his last name.
