White House Explains Trump's Bruised Hand During Meeting With Macron

The bruise on President Donald Trump’s hand is from shaking hands, the White House said.

Trump was spotted with a bruise on his right hand while meeting French President Emmanuel Macron. The photo quickly sparked questions.

"President Trump is a man of the people," said press secretary Karoline Leavitt. "He meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history."

She emphasized his dedication. "His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day," she added.

Leavitt told NBC News the bruises come from his relentless schedule. "President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day."

This isn't the first time his hand bruising has been noticed. Around Thanksgiving, he addressed the issue in an interview with TIME magazine.

"It’s from shaking hands with thousands of people," Trump said.

The explanation remains the same—Trump shakes hands, and it shows.
