There is a TikTok user who consumes several pounds of butter and oil every day, which seems more preferable than the TikTok fitness enthusiast who ate wet cat food for the purpose of gaining muscles. The latter video is something I can never unsee.
Manon Alias Onboou, a 24-year-old from France, has gained millions of TikTok views by revealing the amount of fat she consumes every day. Onboou has opened up about her battle with an eating disorder and stated that consuming large amounts of fat helps her manage panic attacks.
“I started eating butter and chocolate together whenever my eating disorders got worse, because I would simply empty my pantry otherwise."
On one occasion, Onboou shared a video with her followers showcasing her four-day grocery haul, which included 18 packages of butter and four bottles of oil. If this amount is for just four days, then it implies that she consumes around 4.5 packages of butter and one bottle of oil every day. Her TikTok comments were filled with astonishment from viewers, who questioned the reason for her excessive butter intake. However, many of the comments were also supportive, wishing her well in her recovery journey.

Onboou stated that her consumption of such a high-fat diet helps her avoid binge eating, and she desires to share her eating habits on social media as a way to feel less isolated while recovering from her eating disorder: "Although many people suffer from this, I used to hide myself and feel ashamed, as well as guilty. For those who don’t suffer, it allows them to see the living hell some people go through and possibly be more aware of pathological behaviors they could notice from their friends. I like showing the reality that the path to recovery is not linear – it doesn’t go from everything to nothing.”
I hope for Onboou's successful recovery from her eating disorder. It's common for individuals to experience disordered eating patterns, apart from restriction, during the recovery process before returning to normal eating habits. It's my wish that Onboou reaches a more stable and healthier state both mentally and physically soon, with a more conventional diet, maybe with a little less butter.
