A heckler erupted during Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ news conference in Bradenton on Thursday, unleashing a profanity-laced rant over the governor’s immigration policies.
The disruption happened just minutes into DeSantis’ remarks as he paid tribute to wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, who had died earlier that day.
“Alligator Alcatraz — is that your f---ing legacy?” the man shouted while pointing angrily from the back of the room.
DeSantis stopped mid-sentence and shouted back, “Hey, stop, stop! Stop! Get out of here! Get outta here!” Security quickly escorted the heckler out.
The man’s jab referenced DeSantis’ controversial $245 million pledge to fund “Alligator Alcatraz,” an immigration detention facility planned for the Florida Everglades.
Before the interruption, DeSantis had been reminiscing about Hogan’s iconic wrestling career, including his famous match against André the Giant at WrestleMania III.
“I was sad to see the news that Hulk Hogan passed away today,” DeSantis said. “He was a major icon for anybody in Gen X.”
Hogan, born Terry Bollea, grew up in Florida and remained a longtime resident of the state. DeSantis called him a legend who brought people together through larger-than-life moments.
