Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has provided further details regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein after it came to light that he had traveled on the latter's private aircraft.
The 2024 independent presidential contender was listed alongside various notable individuals who, in 2021, were identified as travelers on Epstein's aircraft. This jet was frequently used to ferry guests to Epstein's secluded Caribbean island, Little Saint James.
Several media outlets have mockingly called Epstein's upscale Boeing 727 the "Lolita Express" in the wake of claims that it was employed to transport underage females to some of the wealthy financier's estates.
After Epstein's 2019 death in prison, determined to be a suicide, lists began circulating on social media alleging to depict the celebrities who had been to the island, situated to the east of Puerto Rico in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Epstein controversy remains a focal point leading up to the 2024 presidential race. Over recent years, a slew of prominent figures has been associated with Epstein by online communities. Some social media users have erroneously connected celebrities and politicians to Epstein's wrongdoings as part of a seeming effort to associate them with his illicit actions. However, there's no implication that those who traveled on the jet participated in any wrongdoing.
Amid rising intrigue about Kennedy's inclusion as a passenger, a representative for the ex-Democrat shared exclusively with Newsweek that he had "flown one time on Jeffrey Epstein's private plane. It was in 1993 from [New York City] to Palm Beach [Florida] to visit RFK Jr.'s mom for Easter."
The representative also mentioned that Kennedy's trip on the private aircraft was facilitated by his then-wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy. She was acquainted with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's companion during that period. Richardson Kennedy departed in 2012. Since 2014, Kennedy has been wed to Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines.
"Mary, Kennedy's wife, and two of their kids were on the flight," the representative said. "Mary knew Epstein's girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who learned that they were going to Palm Beach for Easter and offered their family a ride."

Though no proof indicates that those listed as passengers on Epstein's plane partook in his misdeeds, some individuals on social media have wrongly insinuated that anyone associated with him was implicitly involved.
Epstein's personal pilot, who served him for nearly three decades, testified in a New York City trial concerning Epstein's ex-partner, Maxwell. In June 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for facilitating the trafficking of young girls for Epstein's exploitation.
