NFL Star May Face Discipline for Pro-Trump Statement After Game

San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa stirred up attention after Sunday’s game at Levi's Stadium. He crashed quarterback Brock Purdy's interview while wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.

This bold move could lead to a fine from the NFL.

According to the NFL rulebook, players must adhere to specific dress codes on game day. Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 states players cannot wear or display personal messages during visible periods. This includes pregame warm-ups, on the bench, and during postgame interviews.

The handbook emphasizes that players can honor events or individuals with items like helmet decals or jersey patches, as long as the league is notified in advance. However, political messaging is a different story.

The rule is crystal clear on this. The NFL prohibits any political messages on uniforms or equipment. Any approved items must be modest, tasteful, non-commercial, and non-controversial. Plus, they can't be worn for more than one season.

Players and coaches can discuss politics during press conferences, though. When asked about his MAGA hat, Bosa said, “I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the NFL for comment but received no immediate response.

So, what kind of fine could Bosa face? The NFL recently fined Pittsburgh Steelers receiver George Pickens $10,000 for a personal message on his eye black during a game.

Despite the backlash, Bosa received support from fans, including NFL Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher. He commented on Bosa’s Instagram post featuring the MAGA moment, writing, “MAGA” alongside two American flags.

On the field, Bosa had a solid performance, finishing with one sack. That brings his total to 4.5 sacks for the season.
